Another brutal murder hits Kameeldrift community
Wednesday, May 12, 2010 - 10:24
There has been another attack in the Kameeldrift community. Two weeks ago eighty year old Jan du Toit was shot twice in his stomach while still in his bed only taking a cellphone and small portable radio; now Robert Botha, 57, was brutally killed at his small holding. There is proof of him trying to flee from the attackers, they stabbed him in his face, his arms as he tried to protect himself and was stabbed five times in the heart.
The two men sharing his house found his body where he tried to hide in his workshop on a old mattress. His toy pom dog, Louis valiantly tried to protect his master stopping anyone from approaching the body. The police could not get near the body of Robert so had to call his cousin's sister to remove the dog.
They suspect that it is the same people that attacked Jan du Toit. Kameeldrift has been terrorised by these heartless 'thieves' for the past seven years. For a gang to be allowed to traumatize a community for such a long period of time is unacceptable. These are not just thieves they steal small things but mostly they murder or torture their victims. In this case Botha's two .22 rifles was missing.
FF+ has reacted to the murder saying that South Africa should declare a state of emergency over the tournament period. Using Germany as a example who also declared a state of emergency when the World Cup was held there to ensure safety of the people.
The degree of violent crime in South Africa and more specifically in Gauteng has already surpassed all limits. The government should immediately declare a state of emergency in the Kameeldrift area and even throughout the whole of the country during the 2010 World Soccer Tournament.
