Mugabe and Malema - Similarities?
Is Julius Malema heading in the same direction as Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe? Check this out and you can decide…
The way they were voted into power
Malema and Mugabe have both been criticised for winning elections in controversial, even rigged, voting circumstances.
They both seem to see whites as an enemy
"Our party must continue to strike fear in the heart of the white man, our real enemy!"
"Who said the British and the Americans should rule over others? That’s why we say down with you. We have not invited these bloody whites. They want to poke their nose into our own affairs. Refuse that."
"The black faces you see in front are not really black … they represent whites who are opposed to black rule."
"We are in court because the whites who are sponsoring this organisation, they want to make sure they embarrass the leadership of this movement."
"We cannot be threatened by the white minority, we have already beaten them (in 1994),"
“Shoot the boere, they are rapists.”
Nationalism - They both believe in taking back ’what’s theirs’
"We hear you are going straight for the mines, that is what we are going to do in South Africa."
"They have exploited our minerals for a very long time. We want the mines, now it’s our turn."
"We stand opposed to any peace-time heroes who want to oppose nationalisation as not being a policy of the ANC."
“If any investor leaves here ... other investors are going to come. Investors must be aware we have a strong communist friend China... They will invest here, they will mine here.”
"The courageous and militant land reform programme has contributed substantially in the empowerment the people of Zimbabwe."
"The indigenisation and economic empowerment policies (of Mugabe) constitute a very brave, militant but very correct methods of transferring wealth from the minority to the majority.
"Now, because of people like Blair, we will take all our land. We can never give up Zimbabwe to a Blair of Britain. We will wage another war if Britain wants to enslave us through its puppets."
"The land is ours. It’s not European and we have taken it, we have given it to the rightful people."
