Johannesburg - A 45-year-old man was arrested for possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition at Worcester, Western Cape police said on Saturday.
The man is the head of security at Worcester Magistrate's Court and was arrested on Thursday, said Warrant Officer November Filander.
He was allegedly keeping the items in a storeroom at the court.
"When police searched the storeroom (after) a tip-off, they found a variety of weapons, explosives and army paraphernalia."
The man was expected to appear at the Worcester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday on charges of theft, illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosive devices.
