Vanwaar Malema se miljoene?
2010-02-19 09:44

"Julius Malema, die president van die ANC-jeugliga, besit twee multi-miljoen rand huise, spoggerige motors en ‘n horlosie van R250 000, maar hy verdien slegs R20 000 ‘n maand, het ‘n koerantberig gelui.

In die berig in The Star, Malema’s millions, word daar beweer dat Malema ‘n R3,6 miljoen huis in Sandown besit, sowel as ‘n R1 miljoen huis in Polokwane. Beide is glo kontant gekoop.

[b]"Malema’s millions - The luxurious lifestyle of a youth leader
19 February 2010

* Two houses: R4,6m
* Cars: R1,2m plus
* Watch: R250,000 - and more...

Julius Malema, the ANC Youth League president, owns two multimillion-rand homes - both of which he bought for cash, The Star newspaper reports.

This disclosure, which adds to questions surrounding how the youth league president affords his lavish lifestyle, comes just a day after Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan announced that targeted lifestyle audits would be conducted this year.

The Star reported today that Malema bought his three-bedroom home in Sandown for R3,6-million in December last year.

And, according to the Deeds Office, he owns two houses. The other is a mansion he bought in Polokwane in 2007 for R1m.

The Sandown house has been described as luxurious, with three bedrooms, an office, a TV room, a lounge, a pool and a large garden.

It is the same house in which Malema held a controversial house-warming party in September last year. A police reservist said at the time that he was assaulted by the youth league leader after investigating a complaint by neighbours about the noise and mess that Malema’s party had caused.

It was a sophisticated bash. YFM DJ Oskido provided the music, and guests were treated to R700-a-bottle Johnnie Walker Gold Label whisky and Moët et Chandon French Champagne.

When asked how he could afford to buy a R3.6m house cash, Malema reacted angrily to The Star reporter and slamming down the phone.

It’s not the first time questions surrounding the scale of Malema’s lifestyle have emerged.

At the same time that the transfer of the Sandown house went through, Malema attended a press conference in a Gucci suit, and sported a Breitling watch worth about R250,000.

The 28-year-old politician owns a black Mercedes-Benz AMG, which retails at R734 000, and reportedly drives an Aston Martin and a red Range Rover Sport, too. Last night he went to a lecture at Wits University in a brand-new white Range Rover - with no number plates - which sells for R1,2m.

Sources in the youth league have said he earns R20,000 a month.

According to the newspaper Malema is also the director of four companies named as: 101 Junjus Trading CC, Blue Nightingale Trading 61, Ever Roaring Investment and SGL Engineering Projects.

MOET NET-NIE TE HARD AAN JULLE BISKUIT STIK NIE.......

"
I’m a man of the poor – Malema ( HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAA)

Last Updated: 2009/10/08
DESPITE sharp contrasts in his lifestyle as an upwardly mobile, yuppie politician with a modern home in a leafy Joburg North suburb, ANC Youth League president Julius Malema insists he is one with the poor.

But, with wheels like a Range Rover and frequent visits to exclusive Joburg North eateries, and his love for single malt whiskey – which normally refers to “dated alcohol” – Malema can hardly claim to be an ordinary boy from Limpopo.

Malema says he does not see anything wrong with being rich while claiming to represent the poor.

The yuppie politician, who recently partied up a storm during his house-warming in swanky Sandown, denies being the owner of any company.

“I wish I had 50 companies. There is nothing wrong with that. And I wish all of them were making money and with that money I would help the poor because that’s who I am. Every cent I have I share with the poor people.”

He told a media conference last week that journalists merely sought to demonise him and did not bother reporting about the good work he did for various poor families.

“You may not report about it but I do that every day . I build houses for poor women, the latest being a church I am building in Limpopo. The church was burnt down because of differences in the leadership of the church. In the last 10 years, they were attending in a shack and I will be opening that church.

Malema says he relies heavily on donations from Good Samaritans to help those in need.

“We are happy that there are still such businesses in South Africa – unlike Nedbank.”

He told Sowetan two Good Samaritans had already offered to help the youth league build a modern home for Semenya.

Last week he announced that the ANC Youth League would double its prize money for gold medallist Caster Semenya from R60,000 to R120,000.

Later this month Malema is set to host a gala dinner for Semenya and fellow medallists Mbulaeni Mulaudzi and Khotso Mokoena.

Malema says he is a “product of the struggle”.

“I was born to a poor woman. I was raised in villages. I am a product of the struggles of the people in the squatter camps.”

Malema also claims he has no political ambitions to be in parliament or in government.

“I am not a parliamentarian and I will never be. At least in the next 20 years, I will never go to parliament or be a minister. I don’t have those ambitions.”

When he took over from former youth league president Fikile Mbalula, Malema announced he would pull the league out of business, disband its investment wing and put all the league’s assets in a trust to drive youth development."

"Addiction to bling culture is destroying the soul of SA" ( EN DIE BELASTING BETALERS WAT ELKE JAAR DEUR DIE ANC-"BLING-BLINGS" GEDREIG WORD!)
03 February 2010
William Gumede

"SOCIALITE Khanyi Mbau is not an oddball. She represents the new “bling” culture that has now become thoroughly part of the new South Africa. Even our political leadership has become a bling leadership.

There is no difference, really, between Mbau’s actions and that of our ruling political, business and public administration elite.

Their actions are aimed at getting rich quickly, using short cuts. Once one has made it you feel entitled to live lavishly – the bling lifestyle.

This lifestyle has now become the new standard of achievement – a sign that one has made it.

These short cuts could mean attaching oneself to a sugar daddy or, in politics, to a political party boss or in crime, to a crime boss.

The less fortunate, who don’t have the connections or looks, try their luck tata ma chance-style by addictively playing the Lotto.

Nobody has to work or study hard any more. Everyone is looking for that short cut.

The downside of black economic empowerment as it is practised at present is that one does not have to build a business from scratch – which demands entrepreneurial acumen.

One can secure a contract through political connections – even if you don’t have a clue about what you are promising to deliver.

The ANC’s policy of deployment also unintentionally helps this bling culture along. Cosying up to the local ANC leadership can secure lucrative “deployment” to the government, business or party, a ticket to the bling lifestyle.

Praising the leadership, even when they are wrong, and supporting actions that clearly go against prudent values and self-censorship have now become the norm.

The bling lifestyle means throwing lavish parties at exclusive venues.

Leaders drive cars worth millions.

They wear watches costing R250,000 and clothes worth as much as ordinary cars.

They live in Beverly Hill-style mansions and drink expensive whiskies.

The bonuses, perks and dizzy salaries state-owned companies pay their executives are part of this bling culture.

The blue-light brigades, huge entourages and being treated as VIPs is an integral part of this bling culture.

Ministers living in the most expensive hotels and holding conferences there and going on meaningless foreign junkets show exactly what this bling culture is about.

This exorbitant lifestyle, though, proves devastating for the state, society and ordinary individuals.

Scarce finances and resources are being plundered. State capacity is being eroded – which means the ability to deliver basic services is declining.

There is no room for entrepreneurship, innovation and new ideas – which are absolutely necessary for economic prosperity.

This bling culture will break down South Africa’s productive capacity. We are “eating” but not building any new factories or plants that will create jobs.

This bling culture encourages corruption, dishonesty, and builds a society based mostly on patronage. It corrupts our souls.

In fact, it undermines all the values that underpinned the struggle for liberation.

Moreover, the idea of service is now a distant dream. Talent, skills and hard work are no longer valued.

As a society we are losing our bearings. We are on a downward spiral. No caring society was built on bling.

Only ridding ourselves of this destructive bling culture will put our country back on the winning track.

We need a new kind of leadership – not a bling leadership.

"Malema blasts ANC fat cats who show off in kasi

01 December 2008
Ido Lekota

MALEMA'S QUOTES OF IDIOCY:

"Mugabe must go", says Julius Malema
On COPE leaders: "Why didn’t they leave the ANC when they were tortured by the boers? They want to leave now because of a young man"
"I’m not scary"
I am part of the ANC elite, Malema

ANCYL president Julius Malema has slammed ANC members who flaunt their newly acquired wealth, saying their behaviour is driving a wedge between the ruling party and the people.

Speaking to Sowetan at Esselen Park, where the ANC held its three-day election manifesto conference, Julius Malema said some ANC cadres had acquired the taste for “dated liquor and expensive cars which they go and flaunt in the communities where they come from”.

Showing off with new money doesn’t help ANC

“People go to the township and boast about drinking imported, expensive liquor and the German sedans they drive. This is an insult to the people.”

The showing off made people believe that the ANC cadres they elected to power are corrupt.

Let’s get a state-owned mine to pay for welfare net

“ What type of message are you sending when you change cars like you are changing shirts?”

Malema also supported the ANC’s plan to expand the social welfare net.

“We do not want to create a welfare state but the plan is in line with the plan to create quality jobs.”

The plan’s critics claim that it is unaffordable and that the new government will have to go “cap in hand to the International Monetary Fund” to source funding for it.

Yesterday Malema said South Africa could use the budget surplus and also called for the establishment of a state-owned mining company so the state could generate revenue to fund the plan."
