Johannesburg - A man was shot in the leg in a hijacking in Ogies on Thursday night, paramedics said.
Derrick Banks, spokesperson for ER24, said the 23-year-old man was shot in the leg in a struggle with two hijackers.
"He and a friend were sitting in a white BMW when two men approached them and told them someone in a shop wanted to talk to them," said Banks.
"They [the men in the car] didn't like the idea and one of the suspects pulled out a gun."
A struggle ensued when the hijackers tried to force the two men out of the car and a shot went off, hitting the man in the leg.
"The hijackers got away with the vehicle," said Banks.
The man went for assistance in one of the local shops in Main Road, where paramedics found him.
He was taken to the Witbank General hospital in a stable condition.
Police could not immediately confirm the incident.
