SABC investigative journalism programme Special Assignment’s episode flighted on Tuesday showing a right-wing group preparing itself for civil war. Mnisi said law enforcement agencies were alert and consistently on the lookout for criminals

A group of Afrikaners, whose leaders include former army personnel and farmers, said on the Tuesday night TV programme that they were waiting for the death of Mandela to stage their war.They would strike within 24 hours of Mandela’s death.The group, which aspires for a volkstad (independent state), said they would send women and children to safety camps before starting the war.
Supporters were led in right-wing war slogans and songs. The images included young men ata military training base and shooting range.
They blamed ANCYL president Julius Malema for the murder of their leader Eugene Terre’Blanche of the AWB. They said his murder made them feel more vulnerable, so they needed to defend themselves.
The programme also featured analysts who disagreed with the right- wing ideology.
An Afrikaner woman analyst said Afrikaner women started to enjoy independence after the 1994 general elections.
She said under apartheid women in Afrikaner communities had no role to play in society.
